Become our Chief Executive

This is a rare opportunity to lead a charity with a powerful legacy and a determined, ambitious future.

Dear candidate,

Teenage Cancer Trust is here to make sure that no young person faces cancer alone – and that every teenager and young adult gets care that recognises who they are, not just what they’re being treated for.

For over 30 years, we’ve worked alongside the NHS to build specialist services designed around the needs of young people aged 13–24. Our units, expert nurses and youth support teams provide far more than treatment alone. They offer consistency, understanding and space to be yourself at a time when everything else feels uncertain. That focus on young people – listening to them, learning from them and acting on what they tell us – is what sets Teenage Cancer Trust apart.

We are now at an important point in our development. Demand for our services continues to grow, inequalities in access and outcomes remain, and the wider health system is under pressure. At the same time, the charity is in a strong position. We are financially stable, well governed and respected by partners, supporters and the NHS. We have clear ambitions for the future and the credibility to influence change.

We are looking for a Chief Executive who will lead the next phase of Teenage Cancer Trust with clarity, compassion and determination. This is a role for someone who understands how to work in complex systems, who can build strong relationships and who is comfortable holding difficult conversations when it matters. Most of all, it is a role for a leader who is deeply committed to putting young people’s voices and experiences at the centre of everything we do.

In the coming years, we want to strengthen and evolve our specialist services, deepen our partnerships with the NHS, grow and diversify our income, and increase our influence so that age appropriate cancer care becomes the norm, not the exception. You will be supported by a dedicated executive team, committed staff and volunteers, and an engaged Board who care deeply about the charity’s mission and values.

If you are energised by the chance to lead a charity with a clear purpose, strong foundations and the opportunity to make a lasting difference to young people’s lives, we would be very pleased to hear from you.

Thank you for your interest in Teenage Cancer Trust.

Yours sincerely,

Paul Spanswick
